Espero que valham a pena e me ajudem a criar guiões melhores.

Where did my week go? I look behind and the days just seemed to fly by, almost as if I was asleep the whole time and when I finally woke up it was the weekend. This has happened before but the difference is, this time, I’m conscious that it’s not a lame excuse to myself. This week I even talked to a friend about and she said that it was a good thing I was so occupied, but is it?
I have no time to think (not on the good things or the bad things) and much less to plan. And do? Not a chance …
Aside from the lack of time I still found a bit of time to do some things related to fiction writing, along the week:
– I wrote, in general terms, my plans for this year’s SriptFrenzy, which will include not only “Wolf & Dragon” (Comic script) as I’d previously metioned, but also mini-scripts for some booktrailers I plan on making on the short run, for my novels, including, but not limited to, “Angel Gabriel“, “V.I.D.A.“, “Alma” e “Dragons and their Sacrifícies“.
After the initial experience with the webcomic-trailer para “Garnath and the Crystal Ball” I want to try other techniques, maybe other softwares and other means (photography, maybe), but first I have to write the scripts. Yes, the scripts, because even booktrailers should have scripts, so they’re not an amount of nonsense with lack of fluidity.
Suggestions? (for those who’ve seen and liked some booktrailers, what was it that you liked best?)
And still on the matter of my participation on ScriptFrenzy 2012, I’ve decided to acquire two or three books about the art of comics, and more precisely the art of writing scripts for comics. I have some experience in this (after all I’ve been doing it since 2004), but I’m sure I have much to learn and I believe this is the right time to read on the subject. For that purpose I already have “Understand Comics” and I’ve ordered “Graphic Storytelling and Visual Narrative” and “Writing for Comics 1”. I hope they’re worth it and they help create better scripts.
– Although I didn’t make any progress on any short-story, I thought a lot about my objectives and decided to lower them, realizing that it would be practically impossible for me to write everything I wanted to write, with my current work/learning schedule as is. That being said, this month I will focus solemnly in one short-story, maybe two if I have the availability, and I’ll do the same in April, or worse, considering it’s ScriptFrenzy month. It’s a shame I can’t dedicate more time to short-stories, but my current priorities are: 1 short-story a month, revise “Dragons and their Sacrifices” before the end of July, and to try to win ScriptFrenzy giving it my best, at least). Everything above that will be welcome, but not a priority.
– Besides the revision for “Dragons and their Sacrifices”, the possible revision of “Angel Gabriel” has been filling my mind over the few days. I decided to follow my previous instinct (after another beta-reader pointed it out too) and alter the beginning sequence in a way that would make it more appealing. I had thought about switching the sequence altogether but I changed my mind because the beginning is directly connected to the end and altering the order of the scenes would invalidate that link that I like so much (and to me it just gives the story another depth). I will then rewrite the initial scene (maybe even make it shorter).
This ahs so constantly filled my mind that I’m almost tempted to revise this before revising “Dragons and their Sacrifices“, but I’m fighting that instinct, since if I did that it would almost impossible to get “Dragons and their Sacrifices“ ready before July (something I really want to achieve).
Having two different projects fighting for attention is always stressful.
In the meantime I changed the layout of the blog, yet again, for one more simple and with an original image that resulted from a rather amusing photoshoot that involved coloured post-its, an old typewriter, a literary dog and my new haircut (one I have yet to get used to). And of course, lots of pens, paper and pencils!
On another note, on Saturday I was contacted by Draco Editions (about the anthology “Erótica Fantástica”), asking me for some documents. I found out I’ll be receiving a few copies of the anthology, as payment instead of receiving a percentage of the sales (due to me being an author outside of Brasil), which is fine by me (I was counting on something like that in terms of anthologies, since there’s too many authors for a reasonable percentage to be applied to all). I was thinking of making something special with one of the copies, but I won’t say anything right now because that will be dependent on the number of copies I receive. More news will be posted as they come.
And that’s all for today. To wrap this up here’s a note for all the amateur (or professional) writers on the North of Portugal: Writers meeting on Saturday, the 17th, at 2 p.m. at Guarany’s, Oporto. Come! (every new face is welcome and received with delicious hot-chocolate)
And what about you, readers? Any news this past week? Will you try for any anthology coming soon? Are you joining ScriptFrenzy? If so, what are writing? And also, what do you think about the new look for the blog?
