Semanário 150!
*foguetes*****foguetes*****foguetes*
1) Os editores disseram no regulamente que davam predilecção a contos sem vampiros, ora eu fui logo usar o tema ‘não’;
Who cares?
Raios!
Mas adiante!
Ainda na semana que passou tive uma ideia para melhorar a ‘construção do mundo’ de “Angel Gabriel” com um ‘twist’ religioso que não me ocorrera antes e que me parece …. perdoem-me a expressão … brilhante! (ego much?)
*ENGLISH*
Weekly report nº 150!
*fireworks*****fireworks*****fireworks*
What a pretty number (like it ore than 100 or even 200).
And what does this number bring? I’d like to say it comes with gifts for the readers, but sadly no … it just comes with more of the same.
Nevertheless, allow me to repeat a bit of news from the last Weekly, which in all truth is this week’s news, considering I only find out about this at the end of last Monday.
My short-story “Anormal (Abnormal)” was selected to be integrated in the anthology “Erótica Fantástica (Fantastic Erotica) – volume 2” by Editora Draco (Draco Editions)! (Note: I used the pseudonym Cristina A. Corvo)
*confeti*
Who knew my first short-story to be published in an anthology would be a paranormal romance? I admit I wasn’t, especially not with this short-story, for three reasons:
1) The editors explicitly said in the guidelines that they would give preference to stories that did not involve vampires, and I went in exactly with the ‘no’ supernatural beings;
2) The story is sensual but it certainly isn’t as erotic as some of the others seem to be (according to the press release), but on the other hand …
3) … it’s the strangest story I’ve ever written. Till now I have no clue where this bizarre storyline came from, but it certainly was fun to write.
I can’t recall if at the time I mentioned it here on the blog but, I was really close to not submitting the short story for the contest, that was because I didn’t feel confident and, I admit, I felt some shame (not because of the story itself, but because of what others would say if I was published in such an anthology). But now … Who cares? Erotic Literature is just as much literature as any other genre (the classics say so).
More news on this soon, because as of now I’m still hazy on the details of the whole thing, aside from knowing I was selected to be published on the second volume of the anthology “Erótica Fantástica (Fantastic Erotica)”.
But going back to the main theme (the nº 150), I decided to do something I’ve been wanting to do since the beginning of the years: update the blog’s pages (at the top) and make them available in Portuguese and English. There all set now, but the Projects’ section is still only half done. I’m thinking of creating a sub page for each of my projects, soon, with some extra information about the story and maybe even some excerpts (probably only in Portuguese). That and also connections to some short-stories I already wrote that are connected with some of my novels (like Alma and PFA). What do you think? Any suggestions?
And now I’d like to show this week’s reaction, exactly as I wrote it on March 1st:
Oh Dear Lord!
I sweated (with killer headaches and my nose dropping like an open tap) to finish the short-story for anthology Fantástica Literatura Queer (Fantastic Queer Literature) before the end of March 1st (the supposed deadline) and then, after sending it one hour before midnight, I find out they extended the deadline until the 10th.
I almost ripped my hair off.
But, oh well, the short-story took its course and I got rid of another big stress. Actually I’m happy I did find out about the extension before, otherwise it might’ve just had the contrary effect and ruined the flow for me. Sometimes I get really mad at myself, but who knew I’d be able to write the story in time? (I sure didn’t)
The short-story goes by the name of “Segredos e Impulsos (Secrets and Impulses)“, and it counts 4010 words total. The storyline takes place in the ‘world’ of my novel “Alma”, before the main events and it tells a story with Momutte and Garnath, along with a few other characters. It’s not an explicit story (the theme allowed for more or less intimacy) but that was on purpose. I like the final result (quite different from what I had first imagined) and that’s the most important. The rest will come after.
I seriously have no idea how I managed to write and review the story in time. And today I’m angry at myself for not getting it ready sooner.
But moving ahead!
Still on this week’s note, I had an idea to improve the worldbuild in “Angel Gabriel” with a religious twist that I had not equated before and I find it … forgive the expression … brilliant! (ego much?)
Seriously! I’m really happy with this idea and since I was thinking of going back for one last revision on “Angel Gabriel” (It’s really the last!!!), his will be something for me to add and I think it will help immensely in consolidating the world I created (or semi-created). But I can’t say anymore.
And to finish off, two questions: What news do you have? And how’s that literary inspiration?
